Wonder Words Speech Pathology complies with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), other privacy laws that govern how private sector health service providers handle personal and health information, and Speech Pathology Australia’s Code of Ethics.

This Privacy Policy explains how Wonder Words Speech Pathology manages the personal information we collect, use, disclose and store.

Wonder Words Speech Pathology is a private speech pathology practice owned and operated by Ellie Thornycroft.

2.1 Wonder Words Speech Pathology’s Legal Obligations

In order to provide you with the health care services that you have requested, Wonder Words Speech Pathology will need to collect and use your personal information. If you provide incomplete or inaccurate information to us or withhold personal and health information from us we may not be able to provide you with the services you are seeking.

We may provide reports or discharge summaries to your referrer (e.g. medical practitioner or paediatrician) as required for your care.

If you do not wish for information to be shared with your referrer, you must notify us.

We may disclose information to parents, guardians, carers, close family members or a responsible person unless you tell us that you do not wish us to do so.

  • Liaising with Medicare, NDIS, health funds or government agencies

  • Quality assurance, accreditation, audits, training and risk management

You have the right to access the personal and health information we hold about you and to request corrections if you believe the information is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.

If we do not agree to amend your information, you may request that a statement be added to your record.

Requests can be made by contacting our client care team. Reasonable administrative fees may apply.

We take reasonable steps to ensure that personal information we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete and up to date

We will destroy or permanently de-identify personal information that is no longer required, unless we are legally required to retain it.
